Last updated: May 16, 2025
AnimeVibe ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our AnimeVibe Android application ("App"). All data is stored locally on your device, and no user data is stored on external servers. By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information, stored locally on your device, to provide and improve the App's functionality:
a. Information You Provide
- Search Queries and Filters: Keywords, genres, or preferences you enter to search or filter anime content, stored locally for functionality.
- User Preferences: Settings such as dark mode, contrast mode, or color style preferences (Default, Vibrant, Monochrome), saved locally.
- Favorite Anime and Episodes: Anime or episodes you mark as favorites, stored locally using Room Persistence Library.
b. Automatically Collected Information
- Watch History: Details of episodes you watch, including timestamps, progress, and episode metadata, stored locally using Room Persistence Library for offline access.
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (e.g., Android ID) to optimize performance and ensure compatibility, processed locally.
- Network Information: Internet connectivity status to manage API requests and provide offline functionality, not stored persistently.
- App Usage Data: Interactions with the App, such as page navigation or pull-to-refresh actions, stored temporarily on your device to improve user experience.
c. Data from Third-Party Services
- Jikan API and Aniwatch API: We fetch anime data (e.g., titles, genres, episode details) and streaming content from these APIs. These services may collect their own data as per their privacy policies, but no user-specific data is sent to these APIs by the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the locally stored information to:
- Provide core App features, such as anime discovery, streaming, and watch history tracking.
- Personalize recommendations based on your locally stored preferences and watch history.
- Send notifications for airing anime (if enabled) using WorkManager, configured locally.
- Enable offline browsing by caching anime data locally using Room Persistence Library.
- Improve App performance and user experience through local usage analysis.
- Ensure compatibility across devices and troubleshoot issues using local device information.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not share your personal information with third parties, as all data is stored locally on your device, except in the following cases:
- Third-Party APIs: Jikan API and Aniwatch API receive requests from the App to provide anime data and streaming content. These requests do not include personal user data, but you should review their privacy policies for details.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored locally on your device using Room Persistence Library, enabling offline access and improved performance. We implement security measures, such as encryption for sensitive data, to protect your information. As data is stored locally, its security depends on your device's protections. No data is transmitted to or stored on external servers by the App.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You have the following options regarding your locally stored data:
- Manage Data: Delete watch history, favorite anime, or episode data directly in the App's Episode History screen, which removes it from your device.
- Notifications: Enable or disable airing notifications in the App settings, managed locally.
- Data Access: Contact us to inquire about data management, though all data is accessible and manageable within the App (see Contact Us below).
- Opt-Out: Uninstall the App to stop all data collection. Locally stored data will be removed upon uninstallation.
Depending on your region, you may have additional rights under laws like GDPR or CCPA, such as requesting data portability. Since data is stored locally, you can manage it directly within the App.
6. Children's Privacy
AnimeVibe is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn such data has been collected, we will take steps to delete it from the device.
7. Third-Party Links and Services
The App integrates with Jikan API and Aniwatch API, which have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices. No personal user data is shared with these services, but please review their policies for more information.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The updated policy will be posted in the App and on our website, with the "Last updated" date revised. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
